Keep your plants healthy by controlling infestations that occur in the garden
EFEKTO protection products keep your plants healthy and immune from damage caused by pests and diseases. Protection products, whether they are made from natural products, chemicals or synthetics, are perfectly safe for you, your plants and the environment, providing they are used responsibly.
All garden protection products must be registered by the Department of Agriculture (DoA) under Act No. 36 of 1947, to be eligible for sale in South Africa and Namibia. Responsible and environment friendly gardeners only use protection products that are registered for use against the particular pest needing to be controlled.
Each EFEKTO protection product contains a pamphlet listing the exact dosage required to control the pest, disease or weed in question. Apply protection products strictly in accordance with instructions on the product label or pamphlet. As certain insects or fungi may not be controlled with one single application, a repeat spray program may be required.
The dosage for each application has been thououghly and scientifically determined.
Never exceed the recommended dosage rate
•
Store protection products away from food and out of reach of children, uninformed persons and animals in a well ventilated place
•
Store protection productsin original containers with the pamphlets enclosed. Never re-use the containers for any other purpose

Spray any excess mixture out onto plants and never pour it down the drain
•
Clean spraying equipment directly after use.
Safety First Learn how to use insecticides, herbicides and fungicides safely
Gardeners are increasingly concerned about the issue of chemical pesticides and fungicides. The key to success is understanding how to use formulations which can overcome infestations caused by ecological imbalances in the garden.
All pesticides are registered with the Department of Agriculture (DoA) which regulates the safe use and application methods on edible crops. Chemical insecticides, such as GARDEN RIPCORD, APHICIDE and many others, are registered for use on various vegetable crops. All products that are registered for use on edible crops must have a withholding period before harvest as stated on the directions pamphlet, either attached to the bottle or enclosed in the display carton. If you keep to this safety period before harvesting, the residue levels will not be hazardous to your health. The safety periods can vary from 1-30 days and even longer, depending on the pesticide and the crop For example, GARDEN RIPCORD used on cabbage has a four-day withholding period, but on beans, a seven-day withholding period GARDEN RIPCORD is a versatile pesticide and solves most problems in the vegetable garden.
A synthetic pyrethroid like GARDEN RIPCORD has a very low toxicity towards warm-blooded animals and is therefore one of the safer chemicals to use in the garden, especially if you hove pets or livestock. On the other hand, synthetic pyrethroids can be lethal for cold-blooded species, such as fish.
Remember, there is no spray, synthetic or natural that can be classified as 100% safe or non-toxic.
One of the most eco-friendly pesticides to use on vegetables and herbs is ECO NATURAL INSECTICIDE, which is a 100% natural organic spray. It leaves no harmful residues after 12 hours and all edible crops can be harvested after 24 hours
The EFEKTO range of protection products is divided into four categories:
Identifying the pest or disease is essential in order to assist you to select the correct protection product. Take a sample to your local garden centre to assist you with identification. Then select the EFEKTO protection product that suits your individual need.
Products are available in a variety of multiple dose packaging, single dose sachets or pre-mixed, Ready-To-Use formulations. Spray at the right time

Spinosad, the active ingredient in ECO INSECT CONTROL SC, is derived from the fermentation of a naturally occurring organism and is highly active at very low use rates on American leafminers, thrips, lawn caterpillars, American bollworms, and other lepidopterist insect pests.
•
Spray before 10:00 or after 15:00 on a calm, dry day.
•
Rain can wash the spray solution off plant surfaces before it is absorbed.
•
Windy conditions can result in poor coverage and may cause over-spraying onto unwanted areas.
•
Ultra-violet rays break down certain pesticides, and thus spraying in harsh sunlight is best avoided.
•
Treat all products as potentially dangerous
•
If your eyes become contaminated, wash with clean running water.
•
If product is accidentally swallowed, go directly to a hospital casualty unit taking the product packaging with you
•
In case of emergency, contact your nearest poison information centre. Provide them with details of the product and the active ingredient, details of which are in the product pamphlet.

Add INSURE first to spray water before adding chemicals.
Adjustment and buffering pH of spray water at 4,0 to 6,5 and improvement of wetting and spreading properties of spray mixtures.
DOSAGE
1 ml / 1 l water
Most plant products are unstable at low (acidic) or high (alkaline) pH and the efficacy is adversely affected when the pH is too low or too high. Most products ate stable at a pH range of 4,0 to 6,5.
INSURE is used at a constant volume and without titration, regardless of the acidity, alkalinity or hardness of the spray water (of natural origin) to adjust the pH to the optimum range.
INSURE also contains a low concentration wetting and spreading agent to improve wetting of plant surfaces and spreading of the spray mixture. As a result of the addition of a constant volume of INSURE to spray water, overdosing with a wetting agent and impairing the persistence of the spray deposit are unlikely to occur.
The function of the blue dye in INSURE is only to indicate that after addition the pH of the spray water has been adjusted.
INSURE A pH buffer for increasing the efficiency of pH sensitive agricultural chemicals and improving the wetting and spreading properties of spray mixtures.
